My Book
The Girl is Bad - Writings of My Life and Times
1983
By: Kenneth Roberts - BOOK CRITIC - Absanie Press
ABSANIE - The Girl is Bad begins with a short story about Monica Austin. She is not afraid to share with us her pain and anguish. She has a troubled childhood trying to live with the stigma of being a preacher's kid, a task many of us could probably not live through. The book concludes with poetry written about the same subject.
I particularly like the poem entitled Preacher's Kid, being a preacher's kid myself.
From the Preacher's Kid
Why must I be a preacher's kid? The church folk expect you to be perfect, I mean I ain't no angel at all. Far be it for me to cut the fool and act insane, but that's what I do best. Whispers in the pews, yeah I hear 'em.
"Lawd, that child needs to be beat."
"She ain't no good, no way."
"I'm glad my child don't act like that."
Who knew saints could think that way.
The Girl is Bad is a candid look into a young girl's heart. My compliments to the writer for sharing her story with us.

My Son
My son is Colt Austin.
Colt by: avatars.yahoo.comHe is the Director of the Research and Development Department at Shimmers, Inc.
He received his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Chemistry from Berkshire University. He received his Master of Science Degree in Chemistry from Caffco University.
GQ is the only way to describe my baby. Blessed with smooth skin, his clean-cut features make him a handsome man. He is always together, no matter what he is doing. He is suave and debonair. He is every woman's dream. He has a very nice smile and the whitest teeth that would make any dentist proud. He has the longest and prettiest eyelashes that you will ever see. But this is just from a mother's perspective.
Colt can tend to be over-protective. He is a spiritual and moral person although he does not go to church. (I fuse at him constantly about this.) He really loves me and takes very good care of me. Sometimes he does too much for me.
He is a real history buff. He collects early Maddocha historical artifacts. He has some very rare items from Maddocha's history.
I am very proud of my son.

About Me
I have a son, T. Colt Austin. I was married to Thunder Austin. He died in 1983.
Monica by: avatars.yahoo.comI am a preacher's kid. My father was the pastor of Reed's Chapel COGIC.
I learned a lot growing up in a Pentecostal household. I wouldn't change my upbringing for anything in the world.
I received an Associates of Art Degree from Absanie Community College.
I am a professor at Absanie Community College.
I became interested in art and writing at the age of 7. I began drawing and writing poetry then. One of my teachers noticed my talent when I was 13. When I was 14, I was introduced to Molly Heatherford. Mrs. Heatherford was an art professor at Absanie Community College. Mrs. Heatherford began to nurture my talent for drawing. She also helped me developed my painting skills. I have been painting since I was 16.
In 1961, I met Arthur Pepperton, a famous artist in Maddocha. He helped me and he also gave me an easel that I still have today. In 1962, I had my first art show. It was small, but it was a success.
I have been writing and keeping a journal since I was 10 years old. I met the assistant vice-president of Absanie Publishing, Jacob Lasloe, through me husband, Thunder Austin, in 1976. That year I began working on a book. My book, The Girl is Bad - Writings of My Life and Times, was published in 1982.
